This weekend sees Hastings Valley’s top juniors head to Liverpool City Netball Association for some big time competition.
State Age is for the age groups of 12’s, 13’s, 14’s and 15’s.
Hastings Valley are competing will be very competitive in division two at these championships.
It’s a division that will see our teams mix it with both metropolitan and regional associations and produce some quality netball for such young players.
The coaches, Donna Lewis (12’s), Nicole George (13’s), Helen Miles (14’s) and Natalie Jordan (15’s) bring a wealth of coaching experience to the teams and most have been training since January.
It’s a tough three days with as many as 18 24-minute games to be played, so preparation is the key.
The girls have to be not just physically, but mentally, fit for the tournament and Jordan is very excited about the talent and potential of her team this year.
“We aren’t setting specific ranking goals, we simply want to focus game by game and really get the best results possible,” she said.
“The girls have prepared very well and our two rep debutantes have improved out of sight, but of equal importance, they have fitted into the group.
“It’s a very united feeling in the team and I’m hoping that’s what will get us over the line in the tight games, wanting to win for each other.”
The team is very strong all over the court and will be led well by captain Aleigha Biron and vice captain Piper Thompson.
Aleigha links in a fast and dynamic centre court with Maia Marino, Clarie McLaughlan and Grace Kucera.
Piper is joined in the shooting circle with Jemma McIntyre and Amy Murphy – they are all very accurate and will be a headache for their opposition.
Our debutantes, Gabbi Foster and Brooke Sheather join the experienced Abbie Trotter in defence and they are working very well as a unit and I’m sure they will break down the attacking game of our opponents.
We wish all our team the very best for the weekend.
