Whillock finished third in the under-18 boys division behind Jonah Putaansuu (Curl Curl) and Jye Whyatt (Suffolk Park).
The event was contested in pristine four-foot peaks as some of the state’s best open and junior Longboarders aimed to cement a position into the upcoming Australian Surf Festival.
Dane Pioli (Tweed Heads) managed to take a clean sweep of victories across the Open Longboard and Logger divisions as he claimed top honours in both divisions.
Pioli surfed an excellent campaign over both divisions to muster up two heat totals in excess of 16.00 points to claim each division respectively and seal his position as the top NSW competitor going into the Australian Titles, which will be held on his local Tweed Heads beaches.
2015 and 2016 Australian Junior Longboard Champion Tully White (Allambie Heights) proved she could adapt seamlessly to the Open Women’s division taking the top spot on the dais.
White surfed excellently over her dual finals, posting 17.77 and 18.00 heat totals to take the division ahead of fellow Northern Beaches longboarder Samantha Walker (Queenscliff) who finished in in the runner-up spot.
Jye Whyatt (Suffolk Park) claimed his second title in as many days, taking out the Under-18 Boys.
Whyatt posted two excellent heat totals to take out both his respective finals and nab the overall title. As reigning Australian Champion in the aforementioned division, Whyatt will get the opportunity to defend his title at the upcoming Australian Surf Festival.
The results of the Australian Skin Cancer Clinics NSW Longboard Titles presented by HIF decide the NSW Team for the upcoming Australian Surf Festival in Tweed Heads in August.
Competitors came from as far south as Tomakin and as far north as Tweed Heads to enter the event.
