The letters and numbers “CBH 2470” and other tags were spray painted in red and white over property and footpaths on June 27 at about 2am.
The targets included Tea and Treasures, Innervision Surf and Skate, Kip McGrath Port Macquarie and Coast Front Realty.
Footpaths, brickwork on the William Terrace block of units and road signs were also impacted.
A Holden Statesman, a Mitsubishi Magna and a Suburu Liberty were vandalised. The Mitsubishi was equipped with a child seat.
Tea and Treasures owners Trish and John Tracey were the hardest hit, with custom blinds and awnings to cost thousands to replace.
“We’ve been here 10 years and this is the worst incident we have encountered,” Mrs Tracey said.
“This impacts us not only from the visual aspect, but it’s costing us thousands to replace the specially made blinds, which will take six weeks to order in. It’s just disgraceful.
“We’re worried people will walk down the street and see it and think it’s like a scene out of the Bronx. People will be put off from coming in to our business.”
The glass frontage of Innervision Surf and Skate was also tagged.
“It’s just shocking. It doesn’t matter where they’re from or what they are, you can’t do that,” owner Matt Scully said.
“I’d say to the vandals: try and do it again. The town’s ropeable about it. Why do it? Residents are walking up and down the street shaking their head.”
It is a disgraceful act, according to Inspector Mick Aldridge of Port Macquarie Police.
“It is a disgraceful and cowardly act. Damaging the property of people who have worked hard is a low act,” Insp Aldridge said.
Police investigations are continuing. Police are asking anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or Port Macquarie Police on 6583 0199.
