Leach completed 195 kilometres in total after finishing 12 laps of the 13-kilometre course which started in the daylight and finished under torch light.
And now organisers have set their sights on bringing a state title event to the Hastings after the weekend’s success.
Organiser and world-class endurance rider Jamie Vogele said he had only received positive feedback from competitors after the race.
“The track was just wet enough,” he said.
The loop was said to be a world class endurance track with a great event location in the Broken Bago State Forest.
“The climbing aspect of the race was similar to what I ride at a national level so it has the potential to be a state event some time down the track,” he said.
“We’ll look at hosting the state championships here next year and there has never been one for a 12-hour event; there are some for 24-hours, but not 12.”
Numbers were down after the event had already been postponed twice due to inclement weather.
“We ended up with 50 registered, but only 30 turned up which was disappointing,” Vogele said.
“And we lost about another 50 due to the weather.”
Riders travelled from as far as Victoria and Queensland to compete in the now annual event with Brisbane’s Rebecca Stone taking out the women’s race.
