This year, Port Macquarie Basketball nominated the under 14 boys and girls, under 16 girls, and two under 16 boys teams to compete.
The 14 boys were competing in Terrigal and finished second in their pool with wins over Gosford and Maitland on their way to the quarter finals. Unfortunately, they met a strong Newcastle side who took out a close match 42-37.
The 14 girls were using the tournament as a development opportunity and faced some strong competition in Bateman's Bay, Gosford, and an ever-improving Taree side.
The 16 girls team were in Wollongong and due to a number of injuries, found themselves short-handed for the gruelling long weekend schedule.
Despite this, the girls managed very close games against strong teams. Their weekend was capped off with a great win against a tough Newcastle side.
The first of the 16 boys tackled the Division 3 competition, the other Division 1. In their final game of the weekend, the first team had a well deserved win over Maitland.
The other 16 boys only pool-round loss was to Moss Vale who they would later meet in the Grand Final. The final quarter saw the lead exchange multiple times, but at full time, the Moss Vale team had edged ahead 64-61.
