Community sports clubs will be among those across the state eligible to apply for a 50 per cent co-funding contribution for a lifesaving defibrillator.
As part of the 2017-2018 Budget, $4 million would be allocated over four years to assist sporting clubs across NSW to buy and maintain Automatic External Defibrillators (AED). We will be rolling out more than 2500 AED’s over the next four years, under the Local Sports Defibrillation Program which will also see community members trained how to use them.
The first eight minutes after a person has a cardiac arrest are the most critical and early access to CPR and defibrillation can increase the likelihood of survival by up to 75 percent. With thousands of spectators and players attending sporting events every week, having AEDs at those venues will save lives.
Applications from clubs will be invited from October through the Office of Sport website.
Councils to share In $100 million to fix country roads
Round 3 of Fixing Country Roads is open and a further $100 million is available to councils to upgrade roads, bridges and truck washes.
The $100 million in funding for regional communities is almost double the previous round and will be made available to eligible councils for projects they believe will deliver significant benefits to their local communities.
By working together on fixing country roads, the NSW government, Australian government, local councils and industry have turned $155 million into $339 million worth of infrastructure improvements for NSW so far.
The $100 million Round 3 instalment is part of a $543 million commitment for fixing country roads from Rebuilding NSW, with funding to be progressively made available by the NSW government.
Applications are open until September 1. For information on the funding criteria, program guidelines and submitting an application, visit freight.transport.nsw.gov.au.
