You may have noticed an increase in activity on our roads in recent weeks, as council continues to focus on maintaining the longevity, safety and ride quality of our sealed and unsealed road network.
The weather has been particularly challenging for work crews, with rain impacting a number of projects, however upgrades to Ocean Drive at Lakewood, King Creek Road, Stoney Creek Road and the addition of a new roundabout at the intersection of Hill and Granite Streets, are expected to be completed in coming weeks (weather permitting).
Council asks the community to keep an eye out for changed traffic conditions, particularly along Gordon Street, Port Macquarie, where improvements to this busy stretch of road are underway. Thanks for your patience and understanding while we focus on improving our road network.
Australian Skin Cancer Clinics (ASCC) NSW Longboard State Titles
More than 150 longboard riders and their families will venture to Port Macquarie this week for the ASCC NSW Longboard State Titles presented by HIF.
From junior groms to experienced loggerheads, a raft of keen surfers will paddle into competition over four days, all vying for top spot in their divisions. The titles start on Thursday at beautiful Rainbow Beach Bonny Hills. If you’re looking for something to do, take in the sights of the Camden Haven and catch some great surfing action. We wish all competitors the best of luck and hope the swell is perfect for the titles, and our region’s beautiful coastline turns it on for the duration of your stay.
As part of the event, the Australian Skin Cancer Clinics will be onsite over the course of the competition, educating participants about the importance of being safe in the sun. Australian Skin Cancer Clinics CEO Dr Tony Dicker said raising community awareness about regular skin checks is essential. To find out more visit surfingaustralia.com/states/nsw.
