Draft future planning documents are proposed for adoption at Port Macquarie-Hastings Council’s June meeting.

The documents include the council’s draft operational plan containing projects and actions to be undertaken in the 2017-18 financial year.

The proposed 2017-18 capital works program, within the body of the operational plan, totals $112.5 million.

Proposed road projects range from the Hastings River Drive/Newport Island Road roundabout intersection upgrade, to the Lake Road upgrade between Toorak Court and the Oxley Highway, and road resealing.

The Port Macquarie Airport terminal upgrade, Camden Haven River recreational boating improvements and Small Town Sewerage schemes for Comboyne, Long Flat and Telegraph Point are also among the planned projects.

The council, to comply with legislation, has completed a review and developed its suite of planning documents after the September 2016 council election.

The draft suite of documents, which has been on public exhibition, guides the council, providing the vision, actions, budgets and performance measures over the short, medium and longer term.

The council received 252 submissions through letter, email, online, and pop-up engagements.

Roads, Beach to Beach, Lake Cathie skate park, leash-free dog area, tidal pool and footpaths were among the key submission topics.

The agenda item to the June council meeting includes a recommendation to adopt the Integrated Planning and Reporting suite of documents.

Meanwhile, other items on the council meeting agenda include community halls management models, the Disability Inclusion Action Plan and energy efficient street lighting.

The June 21 meeting is at the council’s Burrawan Street chambers from 5.30pm.
