THERE was a sense of camaraderie and loving support on Town Beach on Sunday, June 18 as walkers gathered to raise awareness about an important cause.
The Plodders running group rallied around one of their own in hosting a Beanies for Brain Cancer walk/run.
In August 2016 Nicole Champion’s family received the news that her 65-year-old mother Christine Tyas had stage four Glioblastoma Multiforme stage four brain cancer.
For Nicole and her family, the news is heart-breaking. More than 1600 people are diagnosed with brain cancer each year.
People are encouraged to purchase a beanie from their nearest IGA to support the Mark Hughes Foundation.
All money raised from Sunday’s walk will be donated to the cause.
