A spokesperson for the council said the third and final layer of the rehabilitation works won’t begin until September or October, weather-permitting.
“The nature of the hotmix to be used in this final seal, which will extend the longevity of the road, needs to be done when the weather warms up again,” he said.
“Sealing work will take place this week (May 29-June 2), then asphalt and line marking in mid June. So far the road works are progressing to plan and represents a $2.37 million investment in local infrastructure.”
Councillors Lee Dixon and Peter Alley, the acting mayor Lisa Intemann and Camden Haven Chamber of Commerce president John Saunders welcome the completion of the work and thanked the road-users for their patience.
“The stabilising technology used in this work means Ocean Drive at Lakewood will last another couple of decades,” Cr Intemann said.
“The Schools to Schools shared footpath is being built in conjunction with this work.”
John Saunders said he was impressed with the speed to which the work was progressing and paid tribute to the councillors for pushing the need for this upgrade.
