Blink and you would have missed the actual construction phase of a new commercial hub building in Port Macquarie’s industrial area.
On Wednesday morning, the crane took up position on the corner of Blackbutt and Bolwarra roads to lift the pre-cast slabs of concrete in place.
Mid Coast Concrete Constructions’ Andy Jung said the project would eventually see four new commercial units servicing the industrial area.
“The slabs are pre-cast on-site and are up to 30 square metres. The heaviest is around 12.8 tonne while the smallest is just 6.7 tonne.
“This is actually a pretty straight forward job. We started with the slab and then pre-cast the side and internall walls on-site before manoeuvring them into place.
“Anyone driving passed this work site this morning will get a shock when they drive back in the afternoon. We should have all the walls – including internals – in place by just after lunch.
“While we lost a few days through rain, we are still pretty much on target. And that is largely thanks to supervisor Steve Kilpatrick.”
Commercial Project Group on-site manager Adam Hoitink said the $900,000 project would be completed by the end of July.
“This job has gone together really well. We couldn’t be happier,” he said.
