Hastings Valley sent two teams to these championships – our 40’s and 35’s.
The 35’s team were looking to better their placing from the 2016 championships, where they finished third behind strong Sydney teams from Manly and Baulkham Hills.
The close of day one saw HVNA sitting in equal first, undefeated, drawing with both Manly (14-all) and Baulkham Hills (11-all).
The scores truly reflecting the toughness of the competition.
Day two and Manly handed HVNA their first and only defeat of the weekend 17-8, dropping them in to second place on the ladder.
The team regrouped to continue on their winning ways, where they accounted for Baulkham Hills 11-8 in the second round, to maintain their second place standings at the end of the championships.
NSW Masters State Championships – Runners-up.
A well deserved outcome that has been building up to over the last few years.
The HVNA 40’s had a tough tournament, coming into the weekend as the only regional team.
They won two games over more fancied city teams Bankstown and Baulkham Hills.
The 40’s side never gave up and were committed to the end.
Shoosh! HVNA joined the state wide Shoosh for Kids campaign, promoting positive sideline behaviour.
