The day provides the opportunity to dress up as pirates for a morning of fun for the whole family, with kids digging for tokens and receiving lots of fun prizes as a result.
“We have had so many people here even with many other things happening in the town (so) we are very happy with the turn out,” one of the organisers, Peter Grob, said.
“We have mascots walking around, activities for the kids, and the weather was great. The kids are extremely excited and have been checking where tokens are, and what some of the prizes are.”
Children of all ages buried their hands in the sand, digging for tokens and walking away with some prizes for themselves.
“Our sponsors are fantastic. We have had a lot of support,” Mr Grob said.
“A big thank you to all of our sponsors and for the Port Macquarie community for supporting the day.”
Local families were out in force, with Roy Anderson and his two children, Sam and Toni, loving the quality time together.
“The kids got in there and had a dig, literally, and they had a great time,” he said.
“Things like this raise much needed money for local organisations and it’s something we like to support. Port Macquarie is a great community and the kids enjoy being able to come to the beach and learn that they are helping at the same time.”
