Celebrating 26 years as the home of great short film in 2017, Flickerfest presents a-list short film programmes recognised amongst the best in the world.
The national tour arrives in Port Macquarie from 7pm Friday night, where a selection of entertaining, inspiring and award-winning films hand-picked from the festival’s 2400 entries will be projected onto our screens.
It gives local audiences the first look at the hottest shorts in the world today, including the hilarious animation Fish with Legs.
Featuring the voices of Aussie icons Frank Woodley and Barry Otto, this tale tells of a school of fish awakening one morning to find they have suddenly grown legs overnight.
Other films to be shown include: MESSiAH, a playful collision of cultures in the Australian wilderness, and I’m Raymond, a delightful tongue in cheek satire about Raymond Banks, an 8-year old climate change alarmist who is out to bring down the family business.
Each year Flickerfest creates a film trailer which is a take on a cinematic classic. This the trailers feature an all indigenous cast and crew with a Wizard of Oz theme descending on Bondi Beach.
Directed and written by award-winning Indigenous director Dena Curtis and produced by Mitch Stanley, the trailer stars Miranda Tapsell as Dorothy, Christine Anu as the Good Witch, Jeremy Ambrum as the Lion, Bjorn Stewart as the Tinman, Meyne Wyatt as the Scarecrow and Alexis Lane as the Wicked Witch.
Don’t miss out on Flickerfest 2017 when it arrives in Port Macquarie at Majestic Cinemas from this Friday.
