A MAN who allegedly left the scene of a crash with a truck has been charged with high range drink driving.

About 8pm on Sunday, April 30 a 39 year-old man was allegedly driving a green/blue proton along Blackbutt Road, Port Macquarie when it has collided with the rear of a B-double semi trailer.
Police said the accused’s vehicle obtained major damage and was left in the middle of Blackbutt Road blocking south bound traffic.
Witnesses contacted police who attended a short time later. The driver was located at the intersection of Blackbutt and Lake roads with glass in his hair and minor cuts and abrasions on his hands and knee from the crash.
The man was a suspended P1 licence holder and was subjected to a breath test which returned a positive reading. He was arrested and conveyed to the Port Macquarie Police Station for the purposes of a breath analysis. He returned a reading in the high range.
When spoken to by police regarding his drinking he allegedly stated that he had no idea how much he had to drink, when he started drinking or where he was driving his car to at the time. He stated he was homeless and sleeping in his car.
The man was charged with high range drink driving, driving while suspended and driving an unregistered vehicle. He was issued a court attendance notice to appear at the Port Macquarie Local Court onJune 14, 2017.
