Anchors B&B was a North Coast finalist.
Finalists were among the best hotels in their location for customer service, with results compiled from detailed analysis of HotelsCombined’s customer feedback points.
John and Ros Oakey had their property purpose-built as a bed and breakfast with flexibility to be a residence.
The couple researched bed and breakfast establishments before settling on a model that suited them.
Anchors B&B at Lighthouse Beach is the result.
“We treat guests the way we want to be treated,” Mr Oakey said.
He said the key to being a good host was to be natural.
“Just be yourself,” he said.
“There is no use being false.”
Mrs Oakey said they had guests that returned time and time again.
Up to 20 per cent of their business is made up of repeat customers.
The Recognition of Excellence Awards were based on criteria including quality and consistency of guest reviews, customer ratings, the absence of recurring or unresolved issues, blogs, forums and social media posts.
Finalists and winners averaged 9.7 out of a possible 10 points.
Villas of Byron took out the North Coast title.
