“I wish I'd had a very calm conversation with her about what she really wanted to do in terms of the end of her life without me getting emotional, without me talking about the grandkids.
“I wish I had been there for her, in a way that I just wasn't.”
Talking openly about end of life is difficult for everyone involved but help is at hand.
MidNorth Coast Dying with Dignity NSW will have an inaugural evening meeting in response to repeated requests from people unable to come to daytime meetings.
Inform yourself about end of life choices, learn about what happens in other jurisdictions, and find out what you can do to assist the campaign for medically assisted death for the terminally ill.
The meeting is on May 9 between 6.30pm and 7.45pm in the renaissance room at Panthers Port Macquarie.
The $5 entry includes tea/coffee.
