A multicultural food market has developed quite a following in Port Macquarie.

The April 15 twilight food market, which coincided with the Easter long weekend and the school holidays, had an estimated crowd of at least 2000 people.

April 22 marks the final Twilight Food Market – Port Macquarie for the season.

The popular event returns in October.

Maureen Shaw expanded her Coffs Harbour twilight food market initiative to Port Macquarie in January.

She said the Port Macquarie community loved the twilight food market.

“It is a family event, the kids love it and it is very relaxed,” Mrs Shaw said.

The event typically attracts about nine food vendors.

Wet weather has plagued the twilight market with rain forcing cancellation on about six or seven occasions.

Mrs Shaw said the market was all about the community.

“It has a really happy and friendly vibe about it,” she said.

“The location is really important as well.”

Town Beach Park Reserve near the skate park is the market venue.

Mrs Shaw said the market would return on October 7, 2017 and run through to mid-April 2018.

The permanent event, she said, would run for six-and-a-half months of the year.

“We slowly build up over the years and people look forward to it,” she said.

The final twilight food market of the season runs from 4pm to 8pm on April 22, weather permitting.
