“We’re a family-friendly club and our events are well-attended and plenty of fun,” said junior hockey coordinator Terry Rhook.
While the focus is on fun and learning the skills of hockey, the club is one of the stand-outs in the Port Macquarie Hockey Association.
Camden Haven’s junior and senior teams featured in last year’s grand finals and several junior players were selected to representative teams.
In 2017 the club is seeking to expand their junior ranks, particularly ages 5-11, as well as senior men’s and women’s grades. All new players receive a free hockey kit – stick, ball, shin pads and mouth guard. Training for all age groups is on Thursday afternoons at the Port Macquarie Hockey complex.
The first social event for the season, the come and try, is on Saturday April 22 from 11.30am-12.30pm outside the sports bar of the Laurieton United Services Club. It is open to players and newcomers of all ages. First games for the new season begin on April 29.
