Just on 400 delegates from Rotary clubs as far away as Lightning Ridge travelled to stay in the Camden Haven.
The line up of keynote speakers was inspiring, said district governor Ian Jackson.
Speakers came from varied backgrounds, within Australia, to talk about their work they do which is assisted by Rotary.
Sarah Brown, the CEO of Western Desert Nganampa Walytja Palyantjaku Tjutaku Aboriginal Corporation, spoke of her passion for indigenous health, community development and the governance of community organisations.
Port Macquarie gynaecologist/obsterician Dr Ray Hodgson spoke on his work with women and children in Nepal. He shocked conference attendees with the high mortality rate of women during childbirth in developing countries .
Squadron Leader Kristy Cross, one of a small number of female pilots in the Royal Australian Air Force, spoke of her experiences as captain of the E7 Airborne early Warning and Control Aircraft and of her experiences in the Middle East.
Macquarie University professor Ron Rapee spoke of his work at the Centre for Emotional Health. Professor Rapee’s treatment programs are used across the world. He is focused on the prevention of anxiety and depression.
Wildlife cinematographer Jim Frazier detailed his story from being a quiet country boy from Armidale with a love of beasts and bugs to working on documentaries with David Attenborough and inventing the Frazier Lend System which has revolutionised the international film industry.
"Under the very able chairmanship of Phil Hafey the Rotary Club of Laurieton put together a program of Rotary knowledge of work being done within the district and overseas,” Mr Jackson said at the outset of the event.
The conference was held at the Laurieton United Services Club and all staff were praised for their high attention to detail to host varied activities utilising each function room at the club.
Mr Jackson said delegates had high praise for the quality and presentation of food at the club.
“It might seem too good to be true but it was. With comments like “best conference for a long time” speak for themselves,” Mr Jackson told the LUSC board of directors.
