About 80 people gathered at Endeavour Mental Health Recovery Clubhouse on March 28 for the Port Macquarie launch of One Door Mental Health, the new name of the Schizophrenia Fellowship of NSW.
Hospitality course participants catered for the morning tea at the launch.
Novaskill runs a hospitality certificate through Endeavour Mental Health Recovery Clubhouse.
The name change followed a consultation process with 300 staff members, supporters and volunteers.
One Door Mental Health chief executive officer Rob Ramjan said the organisation had not abandoned its past but from now on would trade as One Door Mental Health.
“We are keeping the best of the past and having something very powerful for the future,” he said.
Mr Ramjan said they previously had 82 brands operating in NSW and they needed to have one brand which people could take pride in.
That single brand is One Door Mental Health.
The non-profit organisation provides advocacy and innovative services for people living with mental illness and their families.
“We are still committed to recovery and hope,” Mr Ramjan said.
“We are still committed to things like Endeavour Clubhouse.”
One Door Mental Health is the clubhouse’s auspicing body.
Mr Ramjan said One Door Mental Health is committed to breaking down the barriers for people with a mental illness and their carers.
One Door Mental Health will focus on the five advocacy pillars of families and carers, physical health, recovery, stigma and suicide prevention.
One Door Mental Health patron, the Governor of NSW David Hurley, said the new name and new brand would enable the organisation to continue its commitment to improving access to services and the circumstances of people living with mental illness.
