The year nine student at the independent high school, Nautilus Senior College, has embraced the school’s project based learning by writing and recording a song, hopeful of raising a lot of funds for Canteen, the organisation for young people living with cancer.
“I’m recording via my new school, and it’s really cool. They’re giving me a chance to do something I love as a project, and music is a passion of mine,” he said.
“It’s always been something I was passionate about, from when I was really little. I really want to become a big star, and do this is a profession.”
The song he is recording, with the help of the Imaginarium at the Port Macquarie library, is an original called ‘For a Friend’.
“It’s a tribute to my Nan, Sharon, and she helped me write it,” he explained.
“It will be up on iTunes for sale for $2, and 20 percent of the sale per song will go to the Canteen organisation.
“I wanted to do that because my Nan has been diagnosed with cancer this year, and it has spread to her liver. She only has a year to live and I thought that some of those funds can go towards cancer research.”
The song will be released in the coming months, and available to download on iTunes via your iPhone or computer.
