Josh Peir and Mark Firman combined brilliantly to take out the best ball event at Port Macquarie Golf Club on Saturday.

The pair had 24 points out and 25 home and their only blemish was a one pointer at the 16 th hole. A single event was held in conjunction with the best ball and Peir made 39 points and Firman 41.
The runners up were Daniel Evans and Nigel Harding with 48 points. Harding made 34 in the single event while Evans recovered from a poor start to make 42 points, the best individual stableford score of the day.
He had 33 points from his last eleven holes and took out the B grade single event. Dave Bagust shot three under par and he won the A grade single event with 41 points and teamed with Geoff Quinn to be third in the best ball with 47.
Quinn made six three pointers, one of which was at the only hole that Bagust bogeyed.
Paul Gasnier had 80 off the stick to win B grade with 41 points. The ball competition went to 34 individual points on a count back and the nearest to the pins were won by Harding, Les Murphy, Greg Darcy and Graeme Tink.
On Thursday golfers celebrated the return to competition play after players had been restricted to social golf during the big wet. 215 players competed in a single stableford with Ian Campbell winning B grade with 42 points, the best stableford score of the day.
The left hander got away to a flying start, turning with 23 points, before making a further 19 points on the back nine.
Tim Harris made 38 points from his handicap of four to win A grade.
