The Bureau of Meteorology has predicted that the Hastings River will reach 3.10 metres at the Kindee gauge later this morning, Thursday March 16.
This will cause minor flooding in low lying areas in the upper Hastings River.
The river height at the Kindee gauge was 2.02m and rising at 12am.
At Wauchope the river was at 0.89 metres at 2am and steady while at Settlement Point, 0.45 metres at 2.45am and falling.
There are areas of minor flooding in some parts of Port Macquarie with water over the road at Lake Road near Ocean Drive traffic lights and on Boundary Road near the airport.
Water is also across the road on Houston Mitchell Drive.
Flood water may start to come across low lying roads, bridges and causeways - it may inundate low lying properties in the area.
Should river heights continue to rise residents need to consider the impact of potential isolation.
The NSW SES recommends the following actions:
- Impacted residents should be aware of possible isolation that could affect their work, family and educational commitments.
- If your property is at risk of inundation, please raise moveable items, such as furniture, as high as possible onto benches or tables, placing electrical items on top.
- If you live in a low-lying area and are advised by an emergency services officer to evacuate, please do so.
- Secure outside belongings and before leaving; turn off the power, water and take essential medicines and clothes with you.
Up to 135 mm of rain has been observed during the past 24 hours to 3am today over the Hastings catchment. Further rainfall is forecast for the next 48 hours.
Never drive ride or walk through floodwater
