Turtles were hatching from the sand.
Dunbogan woman Helen Baldry said she and her husband Rob were on the beach at around 2.30pm when they noticed a deceased hatchling.
“We started looking around and found the nest,” Helen said.
“There were still five in the nest and it was extremely hot. We were concerned the little one had died from the heat.
“We tried to keep them shaded and get them on their way. We provided some shade for them while they made their way to the water’s edge.
“It was the most amazing experience to witness.
“I’m happy to say all five made to the water and we watched them head out to sea.
“We spend a lot of time on the beach and have never seen a hatching in this in this area before.”
