Kmart Port Macquarie will throw the doors open to its newest store on March 23 at 8am.
Over 200 team members have been employed locally, with five team members coming from already existing Kmart stores. Store manager Michael Lawrence has relocated to Port Macquarie after 10 years with the company.
Kmart Port Macquarie will have two long servicing team members joining the team - Sue Cross (21 years) and Tina Bidmade (16 Years).
The Port Macquarie store will feature a fresh layout which is being rolled out across Australia and New Zealand.
“We’ve all been really busy getting the store ready to go. We have an opening date now, which is really exciting,” Mr Lawrence said.
“We have employed a lot of people from the local area and from surrounding areas, and all of the staff members are enjoying it.
“We walk down the street and we are always getting asked a lot of questions about when we are opening and how the store is going.
“We’re really looking forward to opening the Port Macquarie store, and we have a few things planned so people should keep an eye out for that.”
Mr Lawrence said that Kmart had evolved the store format, meaning customers can have an improved shopping experience.
“It is in response to growing changes to the way customers live and shop, in order to make their lives easier and ensure a more improved shopping experience,” he said.
“Our innovative new store layout is centred on three product worlds - home, clothing and kids.
“These new worlds are designed to make it easier for customers to find products. Customers will see products grouped together in these specific areas to make their shopping experiences as easy and enjoyable as possible.”
The store will feature self-serve and central checkouts, and a combined service counter with layby and photo processing.
“This is a way of providing customers with a convenient way to access these areas,” Mr Lawrence said.
“Each area of the store has its own distinct look and feel. Store entrances will now be free of queues and clutter, allowing customers to enter and exit with ease.”
