Originally from Wauchope, Wallace won his first round race, before he was disqualified from the second as he had to leave the course to refuel.
In an action-packed weekend, multiple Australian champion Meghan Rutledge overcame a fractured wrist on Saturday to win the senior open women’s division on Sunday.
It was after she was taken to hospital on Saturday to be told there was no fracture, only to be informed later of the doctor’s misdiagnosis.
She won the overall state title.
Holden Factory Riders duo, and brothers, Kurt and Joel Wightman were the stars in the men’s professional open division.
Joel won the final race of the day after a severe storm lashed the track which left it almost impossible to ride.
Brother Kurt finished in second place.
Blake Gittoes from Wauchope finished in second place in the Clubman All Powers category.
Western Australian and Honda Australia rider Joel Webster won the Pro Lites division.
Hastings Valley Motorcycle Club spokesperson Lauren Hargy said it was a challenging day for everyone involved when the rain came on Sunday morning.
“They had to have 75 per cent of the racing done to ensure they can score the entire day,” she said.
“After they got to that point they made the decision to call the competition off.”
Sunday’s round of the senior state titles was the only one to be held on the Mid-North Coast.
It provided an opportunity for riders to practice ahead of the national titles later in the year.
“We had a good turnout of about 70 riders from all over the country including Melbourne, Queensland,” Hargy said.
“The Wightman brothers are well-known riders in the sport and they performed well by all counts.”
While it was disappointing for the club not to have been able to run a full round, Hargy said it was still a successful weekend.
