Some musical magic happened at the Kendall String Project during the four day event held at the Kendall School of Arts from the February 16.

Workshops and Masterclasses for players of all levels were held for cello, violin/viola, ensemble and there was also a seminar for teachers.
Renowned musicians led the workshops, masterclasses and seminar and included Assoc Professor Goetz Richter - violin and ensemble; Fintan Murphy - violin, viola and the teacher seminar and James Larsen (member of the Geist Quartet) - cello.
Ensemble workshops were also held with the Geist Quartet (Sonia Wilson and Meg Cohen - violins, Hayasa Tanaka - viola and cellist James Larson.
They were joined by four members from the National Orchestra of Samoa - Tipaso Akusitino, Vaaiga Faatutala, Enoch Fruean and Antonio Savelio Pele who were separately sponsored to take part in the String Project.
On the final day of the String Project, Goetz Richter led the entire orchestra of 45 workshop participants, the Geist Quartet and the musicians from the National Orchestra of Samoa.
The Geist Quartet and the members of the National Orchestra of Samoa also performed works for the concert including some traditional music from Samoa.
The Kendall String Project was generously sponsored by the Kendall Community Op Shop and all the workshops, masterclasses and concert were free.
This was the second year for this very successful Kendall String Project and it is intended that it will be held annually.
