Not even the threat of a thunderstorm could detract from the performances, Regional Touring’s Duane McDonald said.
“It was a fantastic night and while the weather was a worry for a while, the little bit of rain we did get actually cooled the place down,” he said.
“We had a sell-out crowd of 5000, who were very well behaved.
“From my understand there were no major (police) issues reported. As well, residents in the immediate area would have been able to hear the music but were no complaints.
“Hopefully they can see the economic benefits from the show and the good spin-offs for the city.”
And while the crowd ‘loved the night’ Mr McDonald said the performers were also ecstatic with the reception they received.
“John loved it. He said the crowd reaction was excellent and he could have stayed on stage for another two hours.”
With the 2017 version of the Red Hot Summer Tour already moving to their next gig, Port Macquarie has been assured of another spot in the 2018 calendar.
“We will be coming back early next year. It is just a matter of lining up the dates, seeing who is available and finding a gap in the calendar,” Mr McDonald said.
“Port Macquarie-Hastings Council is pretty good to us (with the venue) and the cafes were all full on Sunday morning.
“Hopefully everyone can see the economic spin-offs this show provides.”
