Its three minute video, backed by Kim Dotcom’s hit Live my Life, features 100 Ocean Club Resort homeowners in a lighthearted take on a typical day at the Lake Cathie over 50s retirement community.
Ocean Club Resort’s promotional video is in response to the Clark Retirement Community video, which attracted 1.6 million YouTube hits, and the New Zealand video for Julia Wallace Retirement Village with 1.5 miilion hits.
Dean Myers is one of the residents to appear in the Live my Life Ocean Club Resort video.
“It’s funny but it’s not over the top,” he said about the video.
Mr Myers said the video highlighted the activities on offer at Ocean Club Resort in a lighthearted and interesting way.
Residents Gary and Patricia Jackson took part in the video too.
Mr Jackson said hopefully the video sent out a message about having fun.
Ocean Club Resort residents Dennis Richards and his wife Diana featured in the video and are pleased with the finished product.
Mr Richards said the video captured a sense of fun and the social side of life at Ocean Club Resort.
“We have fun all the time and that’s what it’s about,” Mr Richards said.
The retirement living resort for the over 50s community, now in its fourth year, has a population of more than 250.
The Ocean Club Resort co-founder, John Gilmour, said Ocean Club Resort had pioneered five-star living for the over 50s and the video captured the essence of the community – seniors retired from work but not from life where the emphasis was on friendships, fun and keeping busy.
The video release coincides with Australia Day.
