The team travelled to Newcastle from January 14 to 19 to test themselves against the best under-14 players from around New South Wales.
Played over the five days, the Mid North Coast team beat Manly in the grand final on the last day of the tournament.
To get to the grand final, they also had to beat teams from the North Shore and Hornsby and Ku-ring-Gai.
Coach Gary Humphreys was proud of the efforts of his team.
“It was an outstanding performance by all the boys,” he said.
“Not only did they bat and bowl well, I think they were easily the best fielding team at the carnival. What is most impressive about their victory is how well they played as a team.”
He also said with most of the teams coming from Sydney and Newcastle districts, the standard of cricket was very high.
“This makes the victory even more impressive demonstrating the quality of young players across the Hastings district.”
The young players also had to endure extreme heat conditions with two of the days played in forty-degree heat.
To ensure player safety, two of the games had to be reduced to thirty overs per team.
There were seven representatives from the Hastings River District Junior Cricket Association – Will Marchant, Tom Connolly, Jared Humphreys, Hayden Ryan, Connor Cook, Alexander Horder and Vaughan Lickley.
