Stone gave the Mid-North Coast some bragging rights over the rest of the country when he was too good in the under-10 boys’ slalom division.
Father, and park owner, Jason Stone said it was a privilege to witness his son’s first success in competition.
“It was great to see Tiger take out the title on Sunday morning, it was his first major title at eight years old, so that was very exciting for him. I was a nervous dad on the bank watching,” he said.
Stone said it was only just sinking in for his son that he had won a national title.
“He was too busy jumping off the dock having fun with the kids before and after the event, but I think he’s realised with how many people that have come up and congratulated him that he’s taken a big title,” he said.
On day one of competition, Stone said “plenty of personal bests” had fallen and Queenslander Sadie Ferguson broke the Australian record in the under-14 girls slalom.
“We’ve had skiers from all over Australia that have showcased what is undoubtedly the best skiing we will see in one weekend outside of national titles.”
Under-21 favourite Archie Davis was in hot form in the men’s tricking division, while Stone said the men jumped in excess of 50 metres on Saturday.
