The council says Stage 1 works to upgrade the Pool are now complete.
A spokesman said this great new infrastructure offers a far superior community facility, providing swim training and recreation whilst catering to more than 35,000 seasonal users. This number is expected to increase significantly in the coming years.
“Council is very pleased to have the pool open again and reach this milestone in the upgrade,” said Director Jeffery Sharp.
“We recognise that there has been a delay in the project, however the couple of months getting it right will be worth it in terms of the decades of service the pool will provide for our community.
“As a key community recreation asset, we also needed to ensure that the facility met appropriate health and safety standards,” Mr Sharp said.
A new water heating system will offer a more comfortable swimming experience. And as a result of numerous requests for improvements for people with mobility issues, a new access ramp has been installed.
“Some construction works are continuing on site including the completion an accessible toilet, and we are asking the community to be aware of this work and be mindful of any safety notices present on site.
“Further staged upgrades are planned, such as a covered grandstand and children's water play area, with these additional improvements not expected to impact on community access to the pool,” added Mr Sharp.
