Her passion for art and her new studio, ‘Studio 6’ in Port Macquarie, enables her imagination and creativity to flow.
A talent that is a natural gift, her ability to turn nothing into something, whether it be a painting, a sculpture, paper flowers or glass jars certainly turns heads.
After bringing events to life with her work for the past 12 years, Aloka decided to take the plunge and open her own space in town after being inspired by her ever-growing profile and those of other talented artists in the area.
“I like to cater to anyone. I do weddings, events, themed parties and I’ve even done a first birthday for a dog,” she said.
“I describe my art as unique event styling. I like to style everything to an individual, and make sure that it’s something that’s not generic.”
Aloka can create anything out of anything, inspired by things she sees on the internet or around the town.
“If I get inspired by something, I’ll make a way of making it happen,” she said.
“I guess my creativity started when I was a kid. I studied art in Fremantle in my early twenties but my whole life I’ve been interested in art.”
Her goal for 2017 is to grown her gallery into something that is well known in Port Macquarie.
“I’d really like to grow the business further in 2017 and it’s been quite popular so far,” she said.
“I’ve done some really fun events and I’ve almost grown out of this space already. To be able to hire some staff would be good.”
Aloka wants to inform the general public that anything is achievable in catering for their needs. All they have to do is ask.
“Studio 6 can cater to any event that people want. There’s always a unique element that I like to bring in,” she said.
“I’m very passionate about transforming a room to feel like people are walking into another world. That inspires me.
“I’m always looking at finding different ways to bring things to life.”
She is also inspired by others in the area, with the Mid North Coast playing home to many talented independent artists.
“Art in the area is really growing. There are some amazing artists in Port and I love seeing them all doing their things. It’s inspiring for me,” she said.
You can visit Aloka’s ‘Studio 6’ at 6 Bellah Road, in the industrial area.
