There is a very good case for naming the new Badgery’s Creek Airport after Nancy Bird Walton, after all she was one of Australia’s most famous aviators.

I would not doubt that Tony Abbott would like to make a Captain’s Call on the subject. Kate Dwyer said in her column that few women have been honoured in the past. The only one that comes to mind is Lady Macquarie’s chair and she had to sit on it and tell everybody to bugger off as she claimed if for herself. A petition placed in as many of the shops in the Hastings Shire I think would pull in enough signatures to convince at least our own state government that we are interested in what it is called. My suggestion is “The Bird Walton Airport”.
She deserves it as she started as an ordinary person and worked hard at a dangerous job with little recognition until recent years. Few could tell you who she was but with an airport carrying her name they might ask.

Heat warning for pets
As temperatures soar and reach new records all over the country, please remember that dogs should never be left in parked vehicles—which can become death traps in a matter of minutes.
Even on a mild, 25-degree day, the temperature inside a car parked in the shade can soar to between 37 and 50 degrees in minutes, and on a 30-degree day, the temperature can reach 70 degrees in less than 10 minutes.
Leaving the windows cracked (or even halfway down) and/or leaving water in the vehicle will not keep animals comfortable or safe. Please, when it’s warm outside, leave animals at home. If you see a dog left in a car, have the car's owner paged at nearby stores or call 000 immediately—the dog’s life depends on it.

We loved your koalas
I have just gone home after a holiday in Port Macquarie with my Grandparents.
I found a map which showed me where all your koalas could be found so I did a koala hunt with my mum and dad and little brother and we found 41 of them. I loved them all but my favourite was the panda one. I have plenty of photos to help me remember my visit.
