Cathryn Mitchell loves a chat and when given the opportunity to be Port News’ guest journo for a day, she had one interview subject in her sights.
Port Macquarie-Hastings Mayor Peter Besseling was proud to be a part of the Port News-House With No Steps partnership which provides people with disabilities the opportunity for real on-the-job work experience.
Cathryn visited the Port News office for a formal interview where she was asked why she would like to spend a day on the job as a journalist.
With a family history in the media and her natural creative flair, Cathryn wasted no time preparing for her first interview gig.
She researched every Hastings mayoral candidate running at this year’s local government election and had a long list of questions to pose to our elected representative Peter Besseling.
After a tour of the council chambers, Cathryn discussed what the priorities will be for our council over the next four years, its approach to the social inclusion of people with disabilities and even threw in a cheeky question about Cr Besseling’s future aspirations.
