The surf club’s team of 27 members will head to the inter-branch championships at The Lakes SLSC in an event that pits the best against the best.
All 11 surf clubs from the different branches up and down the coast will compete in the sprint, flags and board events.
Team manager Mel Cockshutt said Port Macquarie’s Jaidyn Rossiter is a good chance of performing well.
“Everyone who’s everyone is down there,” she said.
“We’ll have Jaidyn in the under-13 sprint and flags; he usually goes well.”
Rossiter won gold at last year’s event.
“He is very good and wins state medals fairly regularly,” Cockshutt said.
The Championships are a unique event on the surf sports calendar, with a maximum of 40 athletes from each branch participating.
This consists of three male and female competitors in each of the age divisions ranging from the under-12s to the open age groups.
Port Macquarie will be represented in the under-12, under-13, under-14, under-15, under-17 and under-19 age groups.
“We don’t have a representation in the open age group because the kids move away to go to uni,” Cockshutt said.
The coach said a successful meet for the club would be to beat the smaller branches.
“We are usually one of the best-performing regional branches,” she said.
Tacking Point and Wauchope-Bonny Hills Surf Club will also be represented.
