The event was held at Narrabeen High School on November 30 and involved many primary and high school students aged from 9 to 16.
Students build, program and compete with a robot, while also learning about a modern problem in science then engineering and developing solutions for it.
Lake Cathie Public School’s team performed well beyond expectations, said teacher Hayley McCleary.
“They placed third overall in the robot coding challenge,” Hayley said.
“Their skills on the day were unbelievable, improving their scores with each challenge. They even won an award on the day. The award was a judges award called, 'The Professional Engineers Award'.
“The judges said, they ‘were blown away by the quality of this team's strategy and documentation.' The judges would like to catapult this award to Lake Cathie Public School.
“Their achievements were well deserved. They have spent lunch times, after school and even coming to school on the weekend to master the challenges.”
