The online map allows the community to see the many outdoor recreation spaces available right across the Port Macquarie-Hastings region, and provides detailed information on the facilities available at each of these spaces.
There are 62 playgrounds and 68 parks and reserves for the community to enjoy, and by using the interactive map you can explore what is available including barbecue facilities, accessibility, play equipment and even the suitability for different age groups.
“We are extremely lucky to have such a great range of recreation spaces to choose from right across our region, and with something to suit everyone the new interactive map will help our community find that perfect spot.,” Mayor Peter Besseling said.
“Our family visit playgrounds almost every day, and love to mix it up. All the playgrounds are pretty cool and a great place to meet people” said active mum and founder of the Kids Port Mac website, Shelle Wallis.
“People are very visual and like to see what is at each playground rather than just reading data so I think the new interactive map will be very well used,” Shelle said.
“Council is investing more than $2 million in upgrading and improving our regions playgrounds, parks and reserves during the 2016/2017 financial year, and as we move into the summer months there’s no better time to get out and about and enjoy the wonderful facilities that are available to us all,” added Cr Besseling.
