The Mid North Coast Local Health District established the competition which offers over $45,000 in prizes for categories including open, mobile, primary and high schools.
The focus of the competition is to increase health literacy and decrease childhood obesity through the medium of photography.
Participants were given the topic of ‘Healthy Life Healthy You’ to create visual images to depict the theme.
MNCLHD chief executive Stewart Dowrick said it was fantastic to see the quality of the photographs.
“It was interesting to see the variety of ways the competition theme, Healthy Life Healthy You, was interpreted among the winning photos,” Mr Dowrick said.
“We had photos of children climbing trees, ballerinas, a person walking through thick morning fog, an underwater photo of a young woman swimming with a large fish and the winning photo in the primary school category was of a young man taking a selfie while eating home-grown lettuce.”
Across the four competition categories 981 entries were received.
The finalists and winners of the competition will be displayed in an exhibition at The Glasshouse on December 2 and December 3 until 4pm.
