Green tested at national titles

OVER the last week Chelsea Green has tested herself against the best junior surfers from around the country at Phillip Island for the Australian Junior Surfing Titles.

Although the 17-year-old is based at Taree, she regularly takes to surf breaks around Port Macquarie to hone her skills.

Chelsea competed in the under 18 women’s division.

At the start of the competition, the opening two days of competition were held in 3-4 foot of south south west swell and light onshore winds.

After seven days of competition, champions will be crowned on finals day on December 3.

Six states are represented at the titles across under 14, 16 and 18 age groups in both boys and girls divisions at the event that is considered the benchmark of junior surfing in the country.

The Australian School Surfing Association titles will be part of the event again in 2016.

The titles will determine the selection of all positions on the Australian Junior Surf Team for the 2017 ISA world junior surfing championship.
