The Seaside Scavenge on Town Beach on Saturday, NOvember 12 netted 300 kilograms of trash.
And for every piece of rubbish collected, scavengers earned tokens to purchase pre-loved clothing or beer vouchers.
A no sew reusable bag workshop was hosted by Boomerang Bags.
The festiive atmosphere was for a good cause with all data from the clean up provided to the Tangaroa Blue Foundation.
Organiser Anna Jane Linke said it was important for people to recognise single-use items and reconsider their habits so not as much material ended up as waste.

The Seaside Scavenge event launches a six-month litter blitz that targets litter hotspots including Town Beach, Town Beach park, the Kooloonbung Creek foreshore, Westport Park car park and Horton Street.
Boomerang Bags, Zipporra, Salty Crew Kiosk and The Beach House supported the Port Macquarie event.
