Port Macquarie-Hastings council acting director Gary Randall said work is more than 50 percent complete.
Once complete, the upgrade will provide a wider road pavement and improve safety for all road users.
“Delays have been experienced due to wet weather with completion now expected in early 2017,” he said.
“A one kilometre section of permanent work is now open to traffic on the southern side near Forest Parkway.
“Automated traffic signals remain in operation with short delays being experienced, and motorists are being advised to allow additional travel time and follow all road signals and construction signage.
“Council thanks the community for their patience and understanding during these important works.”
