Charles Sturt University students have pitched in to raise funds for the scholarship in memory of their late friend.
The CSU team raised just over $300 during the Garage Sale Trail on October 22 in support of the Jacob Berry Memorial Scholarship.
The 23-year-old passed away after a tragic accident while overseas this year.
Jacob had just graduated from the Bachelor of Clinical Science (Paramedic).
Berry Financial Services, Rydges and CSU have created the Jacob Berry Memorial Scholarship to enable Port Macquarie paramedicine students to realise their dreams.
The $5000 scholarship will be available from 2017 to paramedicine students studying at CSU in Port Macquarie.
CSU student liaison officer Clara Koch said they wanted to do something in Jacob’s memory and the scholarship was the result.
Staff members donated pre-loved goods to the garage sale and students turned out to sell the goods as well as steak sandwiches.
Meltique Beef donated the steaks and Port Macquarie-Hastings Council, as well as a two churches, were also involved.
Jacob's friends and family described him in a statement as “a graduate, a much loved son, a brother and a great friend to so many who had the fortune to meet him.
“He loved surfing and being in the water and was a qualified dive master.
“He was also an aspiring musician and enjoyed the adventures that travelling gave him.
“His passing has left a void in the lives of all that knew him."

The fundraising is ongoing.
CSU also hopes to hold an annual surfing competition in Jacob’s memory.
