The Port Macquarie, North Shore and Riverside roll-out is anticipated to harness fibre to the node technology.
Fibre to the node involves running the NBN fibre to a newly built cabinet and then connecting with the existing copper network.
Some 1900 homes and businesses on the outskirts of Port Macquarie, including the areas of Fernbank Creek, Hibbard, Brombin, Beechwood, Redbank, Mount Cairncross and Telegraph Point, can access the National Broadband Network through the fixed wireless service.
Some recent large residential developments are already connected to fixed line technology.
More than three million homes and businesses around the country can already connect to the National Broadband Network with every Australian set to have access by 2020.
