The transformation is a partnership between Tacking Point and Port Macquarie Lions Clubs and Port Macquarie-Hastings Council.

Gaol Point overlooking Town Beach takes its name from a prison that once stood nearby.
Tacking Point Lions Club president Rob Bruce said the area would become one of the great tourist focal points of Port Macquarie.
“It turned it from nothing to something that’s significant,” Mr Bruce said about the upgrade.
He said there was a connection between Gaol Point, Mrs York’s Garden and the CBD.
Mr Bruce said the project had been an outstanding partnership.
Lions members will maintain the area.
Port Macquarie-Hastings mayor Peter Besseling said Gaol Point looked fantastic as a result of a strong partnership.
“It looks like it is well loved, which it is, and that wouldn’t have been possible without the dedication, and the time and effort put in by Lions,” he said.
“The community owes them a debt of gratitude for their efforts and it’s a good example of council working with the community for a public benefit.”
