MakiMoto is expanding into the former McDonald’s Express CBD site.
McDonald’s Express closed in the CBD in late January after seven years at the location.
MakiMoto Port Macquarie has seized the opportunity to expand.
MakiMoto’s Jamie Park said since opening, they had appreciated the community support of the restaurant and had seen an appetite for more takeaway services.
“We believe this is a result of the population growth that we see happening in Port Macquarie, alongside all the investment that is happening in the town,” he said.
“Therefore, when the McDonald’s site came to an end of lease, we thought this would be a good opportunity to bring takeaway services to the community and also meet the increased demand that occurs in the peak holiday season.”
The front of the space will be used for takeaway services under the name MakiMoto Express while the rear area will have additional seating for the restaurant, particularly for group bookings.
Mr Park said MakiMoto, which had loyal customers, continued to develop its menus and ingredients.
The restaurant sources ingredients locally where possible.
Mr Park, an entrepreneur and architect/interior designer, started MakiMoto in 2010 off the back of experience in food retail and food retail store design.
MakiMoto has six stores.
