Member for Port Macquarie Leslie Williams said this continued job growth is a reminder of the great things the NSW Government is doing in regional NSW.
“Where infrastructure is being built, there are jobs on the ground,” Mrs Williams said.
“Projects like the Pacific Highway upgrade, Port Macquarie Base Hospital expansion or the work that will be generated with the Port Macquarie Airport terminal upgrade are giving businesses confidence to put on additional employees which is great for the local economy.”
Regional NSW is outperforming the other states when it comes to jobs growth, adding almost 60 per cent of the total number of regional jobs nationwide over the last 12 months, official ABS data shows.
Minister for Regional Development, Skills and Small Business John Barilaro said the recent regional jobs data reflects the State Government's continued investment in job creation and business growth initiatives.
“The NSW government is supporting regional businesses by investing in initiatives that will connect businesses with world class resources, technology and expertise to encourage business growth in our regions,” Mr Barilaro said.
“Our latest $12 million Boosting Business Innovation program is building a new state-wide innovation network that will help business owners bring their ideas to life and create the jobs of today and tomorrow.”
