It was part of the club’s free Milo T20 Blast Clinic on beaches including Town Beach, Nobby’s Beach in Newcastle, Mollymook Beach in Ulladulla and North Beach in Wollongong.
Leys was in Port Macquarie a couple of years ago with the women’s country representative side for their annual clash with city.
She returned on Tuesday for the first time since playing in the country side a few years ago.
“I came to Port on a family holiday years and years ago but we came here two years ago for the city-country games,” she said.
“It’s been quite a good stomping ground for us country girls, because we don’t win many of those games but we managed to win a couple here in Port so it’s always nice to get back here.”
The all-rounder is currently recovering from two broken ribs which has lessened her pre-season.
“A lot of people ask me how I did it and the truth is I’m not sure; I think it’s just an overuse injury,” she said.
“It hasn’t been the ideal preparation for me so I’ve been a bit limited but I went for my first run in about eight weeks the other day.
“I’m getting back into it and hitting balls again so I think I’ve timed it perfectly to miss the pre-season and be recovered when the season starts.”
Leys said it was great to see more than 100 school-aged children at the development clinic.
“It’s good to get the kids interested in the game and we try to have a laugh and get them coming back next time,” she said.
The Sixers kick off WBBL02 on December 11 when they clash with the Brisbane Heat.
They’ll be keen to avenge last season’s heartbreak when they lost the final to the Sydney Thunder with three balls remaining.
“It’s really exciting to see it coming back again because last year it went above and beyond anything we expected and none of us had been a part of it before,” Leys said.
“I’d like to say we’ll go one better than last year and start the season a little better than we did.”
She was confident the Sixers would have a successful season in both WBBL02 and BBL06.
“The club’s got some really exciting players coming through in both the men and the women’s teams,” she said.
“I don’t think the boys quite had the season they wanted last season so hopefully they can bounce back from that and have a really good year this year.
“There’s some exciting things in the pipeline to ensure that happens and the nature of the big bash is that any one person can turn the game.”
