A south-wester was fighting an easterly, resulting in the breeze amusingly swinging around all over the compass, with big dead spots mixed in, and a strong run-in tide adding to the frustration.
One frustrated skipper was heard to say “I can’t go forward, I can’t go backwards, I am going sideways, I don’t know.”
The multihull class was won by Jack Corthals on ‘Harpic’ after he got around the bottom mark in the last few puffs of breeze before a big dead spot filled in which caught Tony Kuhn on ‘Stella’ quite badly, relegating him to second place on yardstick by over 15 minutes.

Grady and Alice McNee on ‘Princess’ failed to finish at all.
Tony Walker in ‘Deep Purple’ was first on yardstick in the monohull fleet, followed by Terry Howard in ‘Ratz’, Paul Robertson and Warren Sykes in ‘Flembouyant’, Simon and Elsa Gandy and Michael Jones in ‘Voyager’, and Steve and Caleb Bohlsen in ‘Splash Dance’.
Next Sunday is the first series of sprint races with the first race starting at Mid-day, and Kelly Miller is rostered on duty.
